FAQs Regarding my services
What is the rate/fee for a tennis lesson?
Rates depend on location, duration, and type of lesson. To see a breakdown of my rates, click here.
Do you have your own court?
I have exclusive access to a private court in Encino; I primarily teach at this location. The address is not listed online since it is at a private residence. I also have partial access to other courts in the Encino and Tarzana area.
At what age do you teach children?
I recommend starting children when they know left and right and can see over the net (usually around 6 years old). At this age, children can also participate in group classes. For very young children, I recommend 30 minute private lessons.
What do I need to bring to my first lesson?
For your first lesson, you only need comfortable athletic clothing and shoes. I will provide a racquet if you don’t have one. Once you feel ready to commit to your new hobby, you will need to buy a tennis racquet and tennis-specific shoes. For gear related questions, see gear FAQs and my racquet guide.
What is your policy for traveling to other courts?
If my schedule permits, I am available to teach on other private courts. Travel fees and policies vary by commuting distance. Some public courts may allow private coaches, but most do not. If you’d like me to visit your court, please submit a coaching request by clicking on the “let’s hit” button and include the approximate location of your court in the additional comments section.
What is your cancellation policy?
Depending on the circumstances, cancellations less than 24 hours before a scheduled session may be subject to a full or partial fee. You can find my complete cancellation policy on my terms of service page here.
Do you offer any discounts or specials?
Players receive a small discount when purchasing a 5 private lesson package. There are no discounts on group lessons or clinics.
Can I book your court for a private match or practice?
If the court is available, up to 4 players may book it. However, availability is very limited, and you will have to pay a court fee. For liability reasons, other instructors are not allowed to use the court for lessons or clinics.
Can I book your court for pickleball?
If the court is available, up to 8 players may book it for pickleball. I have nets and court markers available for use. Each player will have to pay a court fee.
I don’t want a lesson. Can I book you as a hitting partner at a discount?
Whether you’re hitting with me or taking a lesson, you have my full attention and will have pay the standard rate for my time.
What do you charge for stringing and how long does it take?
Depending on when I receive your racquet, I am usually able to complete restringing within 2 days. The standard fee is $30 plus the cost of strings. I add a $10 surcharge if you request same day turnaround.
